Adrienne, I want to call you my Soul Sister! I AM calling you my Soul Sister. Being my Substack coach (and how much I appreciate your work with me), you know my next Susbstak, being published this Wednesday, dances so beautifully with yours, in tandem, like a pair. WOW. And congratulations on this article, with all my love. At this time, the commitment to Self Care is a must. At any time, and particularly in times like these.
Hi Amba, thank you for your kind comment! I noticed when I was prepping your post for you, how similar it was. I love how all of us find our own way to care for ourselves, and I enjoy reading other's perspectives.
I love this Adrienne. I used to say to a friend of mine that the flight attendants tell us to always said to put the oxygen on your face first -- and then tend to others. It's advice we should adhere to when off the plane too.
You describe the journey to self-knowledge well. So many steps. So much these days in the public sphere is about Trauma with a big T. One doesn't have to have had a Traumatic Childhood to still look at the patterns we have developed and alter things so we live and age well. Isn't this what life is about actually? What continually astonishes me is that I meet so many people who aren't interested in this journey at all. They don't reflect. They make fun. They are afraid. Happy to read about your reflections.

Yes! Very true and important to remember in real life. Even if we're focused on other--if mom is burnt out, everyone suffers.
