☺ Exactly! I've been pitching the idea in my family for years. Most of the resistance has been conflicting views for the location. Plus, I used the term family compound, but I'm loving the term family village. Maybe, that image will help bring the rest of my family on board 🤔.

I think that as citizens, we will have to move away from this rugged individualism that always seems to work against our own self interest and align our families with a more communal lifestyle. Great article. Happy Birthday Month ☺.

I agree! And it takes someone in the family to set that up, and to be healthy enough to work with the children that become adults and not to only think of themselves and their own independence and affluence. Imagine living in a family village instead of a family home... a little bit of individualism and space, but within a supportive community with overall shared expenses... :)

I was sorry and also kind of relieved to read your monthly budgeting numbers, for I have often wondered whether the astronomical cost of living where I live is just an American phenomenon. It seems to apply to Canada as well. Add to all of this the costs of organic food and any sort of alternative medicine (whether massages or acupuncture) and it really feels impossible. Thanks for writing this.

Thanks for your comment. I think we sometimes feel we are struggling alone, but that is usually not the case.
